The Spice of Life: Your Guide to What's Happening in the Club Restaurants

Our inaugural edition of the Cambridge Group of Clubs' Spice of Life Blog is kicking off with one of our proudest moments!

As you may know, Executive Chef Martha Wright of Stratus Restaurant at the Toronto Athletic Club was recently awarded Toronto's Best Chef by NOW Magazine's Top Choice Award.

When we met Martha close to five years ago, it was clear that her passion for the culinary arts, along with her years of expertise in the industry, was going to have a significant impact on Stratus.

We're delighted to report that her leadership in the Stratus kitchen, and her knowledge of how to make everything taste amazing has been a joy and a revelation for those of us who both work with her, and who enjoy dining at Stratus.

Chef Martha is consistently delighting our Members and their guests with every new menu iteration, and every mouth-watering dish that she designs.

Congratulations Martha - we're incredibly excited for you and this wonderful commendation from the citizens of Toronto.

Next time you dine at Stratus, check out our beautiful new painting, "Truth by Coincidence" by artist Guiseppe Mercurio.

Joe happens to be a Member of the Cambridge Club, a wonderful Toronto restaurateur, and an accomplished artist. Bar Mercurio has been a local favourite of ours for many years.

We're delighted to have this intriguing and colourful piece in Stratus.

**Stay tuned for more news from the Toronto Art Scene in future Spice of Life issues.

Please join us with your special someone for our always exquisite Valentine's dinner on Friday, February 14th.

If you haven't met Neesha De Souza Miljanovic, the lovely hospitality maven of the HUB at the Adelaide Club, what are you waiting for?

She has her finger on the pulse of what our fun-loving Members are looking for pre-workout, post-workout, and even when they're just settling in for a relaxing glass of wine or a perfectly prepared barista coffee.

Custom made smoothies are only one of her specialties, so be sure to stop by, sink in to one of our sumptuous overstuffed couches, have an eye on the latest sporting event on our giant TV screen, and savour the moment.

And speaking of sporting events, be sure to join us for our awesome Super Bowl Tailgate Party on Sunday, February 2nd.

Wine dinners or whiskey tastings? Take your pick...

The Oak Room at the Cambridge Club hosts extraordinarily entertaining events with the kind of flair and friendliness that our Members have grown to love.

Manager Christina De Bartolo and Chef Eric Marle and their team have developed a wonderful alchemy for pleasing the palate, and making sure you and your guests leave totally topped up with deliciousness.

The Winemaker's Dinner on October 23rd was a fabulous night of Barolos and a beautifully prepared five course meal from Chef Marle. Starting with a crisp and refined Gavi de Gavi, and finishing with homemade chocolate truffles and a sip of Grappa, the night was a roaring success!

The Whiskey Tasting on November 5th was another massive hit. Dalmore and more was sipped and savoured, while Chef's bites were enjoyed by twenty guests stationed firmly around the bar.

Stay tuned for more smoky, peaty evenings to come.

And, lastly, the 47th Cambridge Doubles Championship for the Bentley Cup Black Tie weekend was a smashing success, with the first ever naming of the "Gentleman of the Year". This first ever accolade was awarded to Vance Cooper, a twenty-eight year Member of the Cambridge Club.

Chef Marle outdid himself with World Food stations set-up throughout the Club on the night of the party, and all through the weekend, the food was thoroughly enjoyed by Members and guests alike.

Join us at our next event, our annual, can't miss Super Bowl Party on Sunday, February 2nd.

With 2020 now upon us, be sure to watch for new menu items, daily specials, and more Member socials to keep everyone warm and cozy throughout the New Year.
