Living Well

Hindsight: the insightful, clever guest who arrives to your party far too late. Refuse to let them in. They will leave you with a nasty hangover. Instead – meet Hindsight on the porch, where you can engage in a thought-provoking conversation. Then send them on their way.

I have a terrible admission: Mid-March, I thought we’d be “shut down” for weeks. It never occurred to me that it would be months of ongoing change, challenge, and devastation.

The things I would have, should have, done differently are too numerous to count. If I tried, I would be crushed. The regret, the guilt: unbearable.

Hindsight, you are not welcome in my home. 

Yet if you must darken my door for a moment, there are a few things I can learn:

I lived in the moment. I was grateful every day. I became immediately and exceedingly aware of all the small and enormous things I have: My family. Our lovely, cabin in the woods. My physical strength and health. My work and the remarkable man I work for. 

For the things I wish I had done differently there is only one course of action: Forward. Whatever I didn’t do in March or yesterday can’t be changed. But it can be tackled today. Or tomorrow. There is a corner up ahead, bathed in bright light. I can only reach it and turn it by moving forward.

I can’t undo. But I can do something different now. It’s not too late.

Green Tea

The benefits of green tea are well-known and plentiful. It’s known as the ultimate anti-aging beverage and is one of the most consumed drinks in the world. 

Many studies indicate that green tea has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. It suppresses the gene and protein expression of inflammatory cytokines. Drinking green tea has been shown to improve the quality of life in patients with inflammatory diseases, helps to reduce oxidative stress and works to boost immune function and overall health.

There are additional studies that show the supplementation of green tea has beneficial effects on markers of inflammation and antioxidant status, as well as blood pressure. What better way to support your health than by sipping on a comforting nourishing cup of delicious tea!
