At a young age Roman knew he loved to be in the water and dreamed of becoming a competitive and elite swimmer. Roman started his swimming journey at age of 6 and after years of training went on to realize his dreams in 1984 when he represented the Mexican team at the Olympics.
Roman’s passion for swim continued and, he has been coaching for more than 25 years in Canada and Mexico. In Mexico, he co-founded of one of the largest and successful swim schools in Mexico.
Since moving to Canada in 1997 he has worked with competitive teams from Ontario, B.C and Manitoba coaching swimmers of all ages. Roman has much success getting swimmers to the podium at age group nationals and provincials in 12-18 age groups. He has aided swimmers in qualifying for the Canadian Swim team both in Junior and Paralympics.
His most recent achievement was developing swimmer, Evan van Moerkerke who participated at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
Roman is excited to be working at the TAC where he can use his expertise to help our members to achieve their goals whether it be learn to swim, competitive swimming or anything in between
