Ian MacDonald has been part of the Cambridge Group of Clubs' Yoga program for many years. Find out what styles he teaches along with his favourite thing about being an instructor.
Q. What is your training style?
A. I teach in a focused, concise manner, moving around the room adjusting members toward proper body alignment and giving options for those who can't do the full pose.
Q. What’s your favourite way to sweat?
A. Ashtanga Yoga
Q. Which classes do you teach at the club and how do you structure a class?
A. I teach Hatha Yoga I, Vinyasa Flow Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga. All classes start with sun salutations and standing poses and then forward bends, back bends and twists will follow. There is usually a theme for each class focusing on a part of the body or a certain aspect of yoga.
Q. Best thing about being an instructor?
A. Working with people and teaching them something that is really healthy for them and their bodies.
Q. Best piece of advice you’ve received?
A. Teach the members what they need to know.
