From May 3rd-6th our Toronto Athletic Club Squash Professionals, Josh McDonald (pictured below on right) and Andrew McDougall (pictured below on left), accompanied the TAC High Performance Professional Team to Mayfair Lakeshore to compete in the 2017 Canadian Senior National Squash Championships.
The Senior Nationals is the culmination of the squash season and it attracts approximately 300 of the best players from across Canada including 16 players who compete in the Professional event. They are all competing for the recognition of being named the best player in the Nation.
A huge congratulations to TAC Athlete Nick Sachvie - winner of this year’s Canadian Nationals! This is the first time Nick has made it past the quarter-finals and he went on to win this year’s event without dropping a game and he has solidified himself as the best player in Canada!
Also, congratulations to TAC Athlete Mike McCue who competed in the finals against Nick and also bettered his previous best result of reaching the quarter-finals. On the Women’s side, TAC Athletes Sam Cornett and Nikki Todd finished 3rd and 4th respectively.
A special thank you to Mike Savage, TAC Personal Trainer and Toronto Athletic Club High Performance Fitness Coach, who worked with the pro players on their physical training twice a week over the past year. They were looking fast and strong out there!
Rob Nigro, Assistant Adelaide Club Squash Professional, finished 3rd in the 35+ category.
There were several Cambridge Group of Club Members who participated in the event as well: Duc Nguyen (TAC), Reed Bodwell (TAC), Mark Ellwood (TAC), Franco Agar (AC), Achin Chugh (AC), and Geoff Jones (AC).
Everyone played great and represented the Cambridge Group of Clubs exceptionally well!
