Proudly Canadian

Living Well

Canada Day. The national day of Canada. On July 1st we celebrate the anniversary of the enactment of the Constitution Act in 1867, which brought the colonies of Canada (which split into Ontario and Quebec), Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick together.

It’s a day to celebrate our country, our home, our freedom… Usually, it would be a day filled with barbecues, fireworks, parades, and community celebration. This year, things will look different. Fireworks displays will be watched on our phones. Families will gather for barbecues over Zoom. Parades will have to wait for next year. But that won’t stop us from celebrating Canada.

I’m proud to be Canadian. Proud of what this country stands for. Proud of the diversity it fosters. Proud. And thankful.

Inspiration of the Day

“My upbringing in Canada made me the person I am. I will always be proud to be a Canadian.” – Jim Carrey
