Growing up in an active household where all was to be attempted, Kim was thrown into anything and everything imaginable (alpine skiing, badminton, cross-country running, volleyball). She went on to find her passion in two creative avenues: competitive dance and theatre. When she is not working, she can be found cycling, hiking in the woods, participating in meditative and yoga retreats, or road running with her globetrotting family (e.g., Berlin, Disney, Greece, New York City – among other races).
Kim graduated from the University of Ottawa with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics and a minor in Theatre. There, she studied and specialized in exercise physiology and rehabilitation, and applied sport and performance psychology.
She has experience coaching and training kids, high performance athletes, the federal public sector, and members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Kim worked closely with outpatients in the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Cardiac Preventative and Rehabilitation program, where she was an associate researcher for clinical pilot case studies. Having that opportunity allowed her to gain exposure to a specific demographic with additional comorbidities (older populations with complex physiological and physical limitations such as cancer, diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis – to name a few); and provided her with the education on how to properly structure assessments and prescribe exercise in tandem with various therapeutic modalities to ensure fitness safety. Her extensive knowledge and elite training in dance translates seamlessly to her group fitness classes (e.g., high intensity interval training, bootcamp, sports conditioning). Her energetic teaching of fusing the body and mind allows individuals to push beyond their limits and achieve optimal performance.
