What you need to know

heart Why it's good for me

Cycling comes with a long list of health benefits. On top of being a challenging workout, cycling helps to:

  • Burn calories
  • Improve your cardio for a healthy heart
  • Build, strengthen, and tone your muscles
  • Improve your blood flow
  • Increase your stamina
  • Boost your mood
  • Prevent chronic issues/diseases (i.e. high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and diabetes)
fire Maximize Your Workout

If you plan to add cycling to your workout, you can maximize your time on the bike by:

  • Stretch before you begin (and be sure to do a warm up)
  • Have a carb heavy (and protein moderate) snack pre-workout
  • Drink plenty of water before, during, and after cycling
  • When you're attending a class, arrive early enough to set up your bike properly
  • Watch your posture
  • Strengthen your core
  • Find the perfect resistance
barbell Fitness

Your training needs to be frequent enough to apply stress, but be balanced with enough recovery time. Continually look to challenge your body by increasing the difficulty of your workout:

  • Ride further
  • Ride harder
  • Make it a hilly ride
heartbeat Frequency

Ideally you should be cycling every 2 - 3 days. Frequent short training sessions are more effective than infrequent long sessions. Additionally, interval sessions improve performance better than steady, continuous efforts do.

FAQ

Do I need special shoes or clothing?

No! Participants are welcome to wear either running shoes or cycling shoes with SPD clips - both are compatible with our bikes. You're encouraged to wear regular gym attire. Some Members prefer to wear padded shorts at first, as the seat can be slightly uncomfortable, but we guarantee that you will get used to it.

What is the difficulty level of our cycling classes?

All of our classes are open to all fitness levels and abilities. Led by friendly and passionate instructors who will help to improve your speed, strength, and endurance, all Members are welcome to join all our cycling classes. If you're a Member, please contact Gavin to choose the right class for you.

How soon should I arrive before my ride?

If you're new to the class, please arrive 5 minutes beforehand. This will give the instructor enough time to help you with bike set-up and get you familiar with the class' style.
