JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT SQUASH EVENT
APRIL 24-26, 2012

A great success

It was a great 2 nights of Squash, camaraderie, and fund raising as 72 players got together on the 37th floor of the Toronto Athletic Club to battle for the 18th year in a row in support of Junior Achievement. Household corporate names such as TD Bank, BDO, Barrick Gold, Dundee Securities, Deloitte, Scotia Capital, Ernst & Young, American Express and IBM, stood toe to toe with other great supporters such as Sim & McBurney, McMillan, Keretsky Vassos, Hillsdale, PCL Constructors, Cummings and Partners, Laramide Mining to create a competitive atmosphere of huge proportions.

In the end it was IBM Capturing the Cup over Kuretsky Vassos in a hard fought 5 game final. Captain Matt Giliberto, Zahir Moosa, Derek Sigurdson, and Ian Power demonstrated that squash and friendship go hand in hand, and I think it was Derek Sigurdson who summed it up the best, “IT SURE WASN’T PRETTY” but highly effective. Laramide Mining hosted by Marc Henderson won the doubles title and the plate events were won by BDO, Barrick Gold and Cumming & Partners.

Many thanks to the Sponsors such as Cadillac Fairview, Dave Ruston, Scotia Capital, PCL Constructors, Deloitte, Hillside Communications, Dundee Securities and the Toronto Athletic Club for another successful JA event, and to some of the finest professionals in Canada for lending their support:  Ian Power, Andrew McDougall, Graham Ryding, Tyler Hamilton, Dan Sibley, Dane Sharp, Colin West, Seanna Keating, Samantha Cornet, Steph Hewitt, Jay Fleishman & Willy Hosey. The food and service provided by Stratus as always was top notch and the playing area again was kept spotless by a tireless cleaning staff.

See you next April.
