THE MINIMALIST RUNNING TREND:
Why is it hurting me to run more “naturally?”
Every New Year brings in a wave of resolutions, and one of this year’s more popular running resolutions is to join the minimalist movement. This has been evident especially in our sports medicine clinic, with a sudden increase in minimalist running-related injuries within the past few weeks alone! Common injuries include calf strains, “shin splints” (pain on the front or inside edge of the shin bone) and a variety of foot sprains and strains. |

A BIT OF SQUASH HISTORY (from the archives)
Squash developed from at least five other sports involving racquets, gloves, and balls having roots in the early 12th century in France. It is stated that “Squash, with its element of hitting balls against walls, was for entertainment. For example, boys slapped their balls in narrow alleys and streets.” Religious institutions in France, such as monasteries, developed a similar game. Monks used gloves that were webbed to hit balls against a fishing net strung across the middle of the courtyards of the monasteries. This developed the early “racquets” used in tennis and squash. |
ANDREW'S BLOG
Hello TAC squash members!
Happy New Year to you all and I hope this year brings even more love, success, and well being into your lives than the last year.
In the last blog post I left you guys, and myself, with the very optimistic hope that I could complete 1000 drops per day for a month. It turns out that I have not been even close to completing that challenge. |
