ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUE (ART®)
WHAT IS ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUE (ART)? ART® is an advanced system of diagnosis and treatment for soft tissue disorders that include those conditions listed under Cumulative Trauma Disorders. ART® is a manual technique which enables credentialed providers to work directly with the anatomical structures responsible for symptoms of soft tissue disorders. These include frozen shoulder, rotator cuff syndrome, golfer’s elbow, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome , tendonitis, epicondylitis, mechanical low back pain, and most sports injuries.

HOW DOES ART® WORK? ART® works by releasing the level of tightness or scar tissue formation that has formed as a result of injury, overuse or even postural imbalances. The tissues are worked to fix injuries within muscles, tendons, ligaments, and between nerves to allow for improved tissue texture, tension, movement & function.

WHAT DOES ART® FEEL LIKE? It is probably easier to tell you what ART® does not feel like, including massage, stretching or chiropratic. Although it is a manual therapy, ART® is unique in its systematic approach to within patient and tissue tolerance because the patient can control the active movement during treatment.

WHAT IS ART® USED? ART® is used to allow for free and unimpeded movement of muscles, tendons, nerves and joints, to allow for a dramatic change in comfort, flexibility and strength. For elite athletes, ART® Performance Care is used to “dial in” to the athletes injury to improve their form and function.
